At a press conference on 4 January 2023, during which he announced the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, U.S. President Donald Trump debuted the “Donroe Doctrine” and foreshadowed a host of imminent hostilities against other nations, including Cuba, Colombia, Mexico and potentially Denmark, as part of its implementation.

Trump was characteristically vague in providing details about the doctrine, leading to intense speculation about its core tenets.

However, three days later, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper, provided further details on the doctrine, explaining that it was inspired by the “Milkshake Scene” from the Paul Thomas Anderson classic “There Will Be Blood.”

“In essence, like Daniel Plainview in the Milkshake Scene, the Donroe Doctrine envisages a parched Uncle Sam draining the oil and minerals from defenceless neighbouring nations and bludgeoning to death those that have nothing to offer, save for the sweet, sadistic pleasure of annihilating a weaker existence,” Miller noted.
